Hi. And welcome to my blog. I'm really glad you're here.
Seeing as this is my very first post (gulp), I thought I’d explain my reasons for starting a blog, and what you can expect to read about here.
Let me start by telling you a bit about myself (woah… flashback to awkward first days of school). I'll start by telling you that I’ve been with my husband since high school and we just celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary.
He’s a doctor.
That’s part of the reason I started this blog. You see, I think there are a bunch of misconceptions and false impressions surrounding being a doctor, and more importantly (from my point of view) what it’s like to be a doctor’s wife. So maybe I can debunk some of those here. It’s been a long road so far and I really wish I’d started this blog when my hubby was in Med school. But better late than never, right?
I should probably clarify that my husband is a resident. For those of you that understand the difference, you’ll get this important distinction. Yep, he is a doctor. He has completed medical school and has an MD behind his name.
But he is still a resident.
He has 4 more years of specialty surgical training to do. I’ll explain this more in a future post!
I’m also a new(ish) mom. My baby girl is about to turn one and she lights up my life. So this blog will most likely feature some of the joys and challenges of raising a baby (while being married to a doctor resident). It will be a way for me to look back and remember my thoughts and feelings at this stage in my life, and to share and gain advice from you!
And I’m a big foodie. I love food. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and really enjoy sharing and trying out new recipes. We’ve recently embarked on a new food adventure. More on that in another future post (I have to keep you intrigued, right?)
Lastly, I like to write. A long time ago I majored in English. I’ve read a lot of books and written my fair share of essays.
I have things to say.
And I’d like to share them with you.
nice to meet you! |
the bean, hubby and me
Note: I’ve thought long and hard about sharing my family’s life and mine with you. I wouldn’t say I’m an especially private person; but I’ve also never shared like this in a public arena. I’m going to reveal as much as I can. But there are some things I’ll do to protect the privacy of my family. I’ll refer to our daughter as “the bean”. It’s what we’ve called her since she was a little jumping bean on my 19-week ultrasound. And I’ll refer to my husband as “hubby” or “the doctor”. I hope that's okay with you.
This is great Tish! What a wonderful first post. Can't wait to keep reading!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the club, and you're off to a great start. I will try to remember your privacy rules whenever I comment.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christopher. I may be being too paranoid. But what if the Bean becomes famous someday... and then there are all these blog posts about her first poop on the potty and such, using her name. Un-cool mom award. ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful start to what i know will be my favourite blog! Can't wait to read more.
